Gelatin is a Superfood

Current research revealed the importance of gut health in determining whether you  would suffer from Long Covid symptoms. What they found is that people with gut  dysbiosis had a higher chance of having prolonged symptoms even after recovering  from Covid. This made a 100% sense to me as I’ve always known the gut to be such a  huge part of the immune system. Here’s why:

I always explain that the gut’s microbiome acts as your own internal army system. It’s  theres to hold down the forte, be there in case of an attack, all to protect you and the  health of your body. Everything you ingest, physically, even mentally, and emotionally,  affects the gut, which is where your army makes its home. Feed the gut with healing

properties, and it has the energy and strength to protect you from possible invaders,  for example a spike protein.

When the gut is struggling in can show up in a myriad of ways, from acne, to hormonal  problems, digestive issue, sinus and allergies, the list goes on. Either the microbiome is  weak which is composed of the actual good bacteria in your gut, or your gut lining has  begun to leak, making it easy for invaders to cross into your bloodstream.

There are many ways to heal the gut, one is to feed it with healthy bacteria daily,  probiotics, fermented foods such as sauerkraut, yogurt, kimchee, etc, all of this will  affects the microbiome. But, if the gut lining is permeable, it doesn’t matter how many  probiotics you are ingesting, you must begin repairing the lining of the gut. One of the  ways to do that is to start incorporating collagen and gelatin daily. Gelatin being one of  my favorites, it has the ability to repair and seal the tissue of your gut based on its  incredible amino acid profile. Gelatin contains the amino acids glycine and proline  which are anti-inflammatory and can even aid in releasing toxins from the liver. And,  this is just a few of its benefits.

So what exactly is Gelatin? Gelatin is a thickening agent derived from animal parts  (organs and tendons, cartilage) and you may know it as being the part of the soup or  broth that become gelatinous on top. But, it’s not always easiest to get into your diet  daily. Another way to get gelatin into your diet is with Gut Healing Gummies. These are  easy to make, can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, and even kids love them. If  you can, try to eat with a meal, especially if you had any muscle meats, the gelatin will  make your meal a complete protein profile, leading to even more gut healing benefits. I  like to add tart cherry juice to mine to help my family sleep for an extra health boost.

Gut Healing Gummies

3/4 Cup 100% organic juice (I love using tart cherry juice, but you can any juice of your  liking)

1 Cup Water

3 Tbsp of Gelatin Powder

1/2 Cup Coconut Sugar (You can also substitute maple sugar)

In a small sauce pan, combine all liquid. Then add the gelatin, give it a few minute for  the gelatin to Bloom (thicken). Once it’s bloomed, turn heat on to medium letting it melt  to liquid, heat only till it’s hot, not boiled. Remove from heat, add sugar, then pour into  silicone molds. Place mold trays into fridge for 1 hour. Store gummies in a jar for up to  2 weeks. Enjoy daily!
